About Me
My name is Loren Edwards, I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. From this program I have gained experience in many multidisciplinary aspects of the engineering process, and learned how to understand the interplay between systems within the aerospace environment. The program focused on engineering fundamentals and complex aircraft topics including aerodynamic CFD and wind tunnel testing/analysis, aircraft control and structures, and systems engineering focused UAS conceptual design. Currently I am seeking a position where I can utilize the skills that I have obtained to bring the future of aerospace to today.
Since I can remember, I have loved the idea of the cutting edge; proving that humanity not only can, but will, advance into tomorrow. Dreams of science fiction drove me towards the aerospace industry, because it holds the highest standards for performance, reliability, and achievement. I set out to make these standards my own throughout my time at Cal Poly, as I completed club and committee ventures, alongside class and personal projects. In my own time, I gained skills such as drawing/editing in Photoshop, part design in SolidWorks, and 3D printing, which allowed me to diversify my skills to approach problems from different angles. This, in essence, shows my engineering philosophy: a truly exceptional engineer has not only a deep understanding of engineering principles and practices, but has a variety of practiced skills which give unique perspectives into problem sources and solutions, and enable clear communication of those solutions to management and the customer. It is my goal to follow this philosophy to my best ability, because only exceptional engineers can grasp the future.
Alongside my career focus, my interests include staying in shape through running, hiking, and biking, inventing new recipes with my favorite cookbook– The Flavor Bible, enjoying vinyl and lossless audio with quality headphones, practicing my sketching and digital drawing, and attempting to learn new languages.
